The Greeks called them Kelt and, according to the Greek historian Polybius (c.200-118 BCE), the word Galatae was popular in his day. In Rome, they were known as Galli or Celtae, but later, Diodorus Siculus (c.60-30 BCE) considers that the name Kelt is the proper term for them. Pausanias (160 CE) considers the Keltic race to be of a much greater age than that of the Gauls or the Galatians. There were in fact two distinct Keltic groups."
